To get accurate weather these days, you have to rely on 3rd party add-on like those listed by Tsarcasm. Nothing has changed since DTG took over FSX and released it as FSX-SE. The agreement between them and Microsoft lapsed for some reason around 2010 (don't know exactly when it was, but that's my estimate), and no other weather provider has jumped in to take Jepsens spot. The real world weather system was provided by Jepsen. But there's also an option for real world weather & these packages have a 'wake turbulence' effect as well which does not come default in FSX. For example If you wanted to fly in hurrican katrina, you'd set the weather engine to August 29th, 2005 at the aiport KMSY and you would get the weather for that day. You can even replicate certain weather from a certain time. SkyForce 3D by REXSims also does a nice job. Google up - Active Sky 16 or Active Sky next. You're going to need to dish out some money if you want accurate weather. Real world weather in FSX is the absolute worst. Originally posted by Tsarcasm:Everyone does.
